About GraphMaker
Free online graph maker for CSV, TSV & Excel data
GraphMaker is a free online graph maker that turns
spreadsheet data into charts without installing anything and without creating an account. Drop in a
CSV,
TSV or
Excel file — or paste a table straight from Excel
or Google Sheets — and the tool detects your column types, picks sensible axes and draws
line, scatter, bar, histogram and pie charts
immediately. Everything happens in your browser: no upload, no server, no waiting.
Use it as a CSV to chart converter, an
Excel to graph tool, or a quick way to turn any
pasted table into a picture you can share. Because parsing runs locally, it is also the privacy-safe choice:
sensitive spreadsheets never leave your device, not even to us. Large files are supported too — up to 100 MB of
delimited text or 200,000 rows per sheet, with long series evenly sampled on the fly.
Chart types you can create
Five chart kinds, drawn side by side from the same file.
Line graph maker
Plot trends over dates or categories, with up to three series on one shared axis and optional gap-bridging for sparse data.
Bar chart maker
Compare categories side by side — plain or stacked — with labels taken straight from your data.
Scatter plot maker
Show the relationship between two numeric columns on a true numeric X axis — ideal for correlations and lab data.
Histogram maker
See the distribution of any numeric column with even-width bins (5–40, following the √n rule), shared across every selected series.
Pie chart maker
Show each category's share of a total — duplicate labels are summed, zero and negative rows are skipped, and huge slice counts pool into “Other”.
PNG & CSV export
Download any chart as a high-resolution PNG with a solid backdrop, or export the exact plotted data as CSV.
GraphMaker is more than a chart generator — it also works as a free prediction tool.
Turn on Trend & forecast for any numeric X axis and it fits a model to
every selected Y column, overlays the fitted trend, and extends it into a dashed
forecast beyond your last data point. Type any X value into the predict box and every series answers with
an instant value estimate; each fit's R² quality is shown right in the chart legend.
Five models are built in, chosen in one dropdown:
Linear regression
The classic least-squares trendline — slope, intercept and R² — for data that climbs or falls steadily.
Polynomial (degree 3)
Fits smooth curves for rounded, accelerating or decelerating relationships.
k-nearest neighbours (k-NN)
Follows local patterns without assuming any global shape.
Random Forest
Forty bagged decision trees averaged together — robust, non-linear, hard to overfit.
XGBoost-style gradient boosting
Shallow boosted trees with a learning rate — strong accuracy on complex trends.
Everything still runs in your browser
The model fitting, the forecasts and the predictions are computed locally from the seeded libraries — the
same fit powers the chart overlay and the predict box, and nothing is ever uploaded.
How to make a graph from your data
1Load it — drop a file anywhere on the page,
browse for it, or paste a table. No sample file? The built-in sample data loads in one click.
2Tune it — GraphMaker picks the X column and
up to three Y series automatically; switch columns, chart type or stacked bars with the controls, rename the
title if you like, and turn on Trend &
forecast to overlay a fitted model, extend it into a forecast and predict values at any X.
3Export it — save any chart as a PNG, or
export the plotted values as a CSV. Both are ready for reports, slides and papers.
Supported file formats
Delimited text — .csv,
.tsv, .tab, .txt, .psv with comma, tab, semicolon or pipe
delimiters; quoted fields, embedded newlines, CRLF/LF/CR line endings and ragged rows.
Excel workbooks — .xlsx,
.xlsm and .xltx, including multi-sheet workbooks, read by real
openpyxl running as WebAssembly. Legacy .xls files should be re-saved first.
Encodings — UTF-8 (with or without BOM),
UTF-16 LE/BE and a Windows-1252 fallback instead of mojibake; you can override the guess any time.
Number formats — English
1,234.5 and European decimal comma 1.234,56 both parse as real numbers.
Dates — ISO-style values like
2024-05-06, 2024/05/06 and 2024-05-06 14:30 are typed as real dates
and sort correctly on the axis.
Paste — copy a table from Excel, Google
Sheets or any web page and press Ctrl/⌘ + V.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a graph from a CSV file?
+
Drop the CSV file onto the page or click the drop zone to browse for it. GraphMaker detects the delimiter,
the header row and each column's type, picks an X axis and up to three numeric Y series, and draws line,
scatter, bar, histogram and pie charts at once. Change the columns or options if you like, then download
any chart as a PNG.
Is GraphMaker free to use?
+
Yes. GraphMaker is 100% free, with no account, no signup and no watermark. Any chart can be exported as a
PNG or CSV file you can use anywhere.
Do I need to install anything or create an account?
+
No. GraphMaker runs in any modern web browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, iOS or Android. There is
nothing to install and no account to create — open the page and drop a file.
Is my data uploaded to a server?
+
No. Everything runs client-side: CSV and TSV files are parsed by JavaScript in your browser, and Excel
workbooks are read by real Python (openpyxl) compiled to WebAssembly running inside this very tab. Nothing
is ever uploaded — there is no server to upload to.
Which file types does the graph maker support?
+
Delimited text files (.csv, .tsv, .tab, .txt, .psv) and Excel workbooks (.xlsx, .xlsm, .xltx), including
multi-sheet workbooks. Legacy .xls files need to be re-saved as .xlsx or .csv first. You can also paste
tables from Excel or Google Sheets.
Can I paste data from Excel or Google Sheets?
+
Yes. Copy any table (Ctrl / ⌘ + C) and paste it straight onto the page (Ctrl / ⌘ + V). HTML tables from
Excel, Google Sheets or web pages and plain delimited text both work.
How large can my files be?
+
Text files up to 100 MB, workbooks up to 50 MB, and 200,000 rows per sheet. Each series is evenly sampled
to at most 15,000 points per chart — the app tells you whenever it samples.
What charts can I create?
+
Line graphs, scatter plots, bar charts (plain or stacked), histograms and pie charts — all drawn from the
same file, side by side, with editable titles, colours and axes.
Can I predict or forecast values from my data?
+
Yes. Switch on Trend & forecast and GraphMaker fits a model to your X/Y data — linear regression, a
degree-3 polynomial, k-nearest neighbours, Random Forest or XGBoost-style gradient-boosted trees — draws
the fitted trend and a dashed forecast with each fit's R², and predicts values for any X you type. All of
it is computed locally in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Private by design
GraphMaker is built on a simple promise: your data stays yours. There is no backend, no analytics on your file
contents and no third-party upload step. The charting engine is open technology you can inspect — the same
engine even runs from the command line via python3 python/graphmaker.py data.csv. Drop a file and
see for yourself.
